Still life paintings often adorned ancient Egyptian tombs because they believed that the food objects and other items depicted, would become real to the deceased in the afterlife. In that case, will someone adorn my tomb with still life paintings depicting donuts and beer? This incredible still life was signed by the artist Alex Miller and dated 1948. Though this primitive still life is nearly 65 years old, the beautiful colors still look absolutely vibrant within its original gold leaf frame.

This vintage map of Vienna circa 1830 was hand colored and embellished by the notorious cartographer Carl Graf Vasquez.
